The carbuncle crusher
The horror hermit heralds the end. It comes smashing down on sailors with flotsam fists. Decked in ships decks its pulverizing pincers pulp people. Coral clamps crush captives as it surges through the water. Marine life pours out of its shell slipping through surfaces to aid the behemoth.
The carbuncle crusher is the final evolution within the Salt crab strain. Starting much like the hermit crab cousin, the Carbuncle Crusher will slowly move from shell to shell as it grows. It however starts to add to a shell, carving on other shells, debris, coral or marine life to gain an edge over any possible competition. Every speck of human refuse becomes an investment and could be the difference between life and death.
Carbuncle Crushers will also go out of the way to slaughter each other. They will openly ignore threats if it gives them the edge. The most dominant and cunning will usually end up as titanic behemoths decked out in the remnants of ships, lighthouses or coastal towns. The gods have mercy upon any mortal caught between two elder Crushers.
