It darts through the water at alternate angles. Underwater lightning bolt arcs the whip fish speeds in predatory passes. A blue bolt blasting by, turning for another pass. It's long nose constantly turning and flexing like a rapier blade.
The villagers along the Salt Coast speak of devil fish basking in the warm sun before slipping beneath the surface. Of giant, long bony bills thrusting through wood and metal. Of men having to fight to the death with these lightning quick duelist of the deep.
The largest amongst them, a true leviathan said to be thirty six foot long with a wicked scar along the right eye, sucker marks on its beak and white stripes along its back. Said to rise from the depths on red sky mornings. The twelve foot long lance has skewered many the captain and sunk scores of fishing vessels.
